James in enrolled in CAVA through K12. Our science lesson we had on August 21st was how to measure volume using a graduated cylinder. I think this is a great idea to do help children learn how to measure mL even if you aren't homeschooling.
We used:
- Graduated cylinder
- Food coloring
- Water
- Measuring cups
- Funnel (I only had a party hat)
- Bowl or pitcher
- Coffee cup
I filled the pitcher up and colored it green, James favorite color of course, and then I let him pour the water into the measuring cups, and measure how much each one was in mL. He kept track of his measurements and at the end of the lesson we looked to see what had the smallest amount of volume and what had the largest.

| On the coffee mug we learned to only fill it to the top line, pour it out, and put the rest of the liquid from the coffee cup in there and add the two measurements together lol |
